Kris Bagiu is a 2006 graduate of the National College of Midwifery and recipient of the Certified Professional Midwife credential following examination by the North American Registry of Midwives. She is licensed as a midwife by the Medical Board of California.

In early 2003 after four years of assisting a local Orange County midwife, she and her family moved to Colorado in order to complete her academic and clinical midwifery education. After graduating, she practiced for one year as a Colorado Registered Midwife in private practice before returning to Southern California as a Licensed Midwife. Since 1999 she has attended births in homes and hospitals, and in a freestanding birth center as either a 1st Assistant, Co-Midwife, or Primary Midwife.  They returned to Orange County in June of 2007 and since then Kris has helped with the births of more than 40 babies either as Primary Midwife or Co-Midwife/Assistant Midwife.

Kris subscribes to the philosophy of the Midwives Model of Care, which is based on the fact that pregnancy and birth are normal life processes. Her goal is for each woman and her family to have a satisfying pregnancy and birth experience according to their individual desires. She is an enthusiastic midwife and looks forward to sharing her experiences and knowledge with her clients, just as her midwives did with her.

Personal

Kris was born in Pittsburgh, PA and raised along with her twin sisters in Southern California. She was a competitive gymnast as an adolescent and it was through her injuries she became interested in health care, specifically nursing. While she intended on pursuing a nursing education, her path was redirected when she gave birth with the help of midwives. Kris shares, “The way they demystified pregnancy and birth while treating me as an individual and empowering me to make the best choices for my family was life-changing. It’s my goal to pay that experience forward to each woman who entrusts me to assist her.”

Kris has been married to Mihai since 1992. He is a 1996 Olympic Gymnast, personal trainer at Bodi Fitness in Newport Beach, producer of Kris’ Midwifery World Podcast.

Together they have four children:

Gabriela born in 1995 in an Albuquerque, NM hospital. She weighed 8 pounds, 12 ounces at birth.

Mia born at home in 1997 in Orange, CA. She weighed 10 pounds, 2 ounces at birth.

Jared born at home in 1999 in Orange, CA. He weighed 11 pounds, 5 ounces at birth.

Chloe born at home in 2000 in Orange, CA. She weighed 10 pounds at birth.

They live in Newport Beach and try to be on the sand or in the water as much as possible.
